Ingredients

  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 15 g baking powder
  • 5 g salt
  • 15 g granulated sugar
  • 240 ml whole milk
  • 45 ml olive oil or melted butter

Equipment

  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 whisk or spoon
  • 1 9x5 inch loaf pan
  • 1 oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan with a bit of oil or non-stick spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Whisk thoroughly to ensure even distribution of ingredients.
  3. Pour in the milk and olive oil (or melted butter). Stir with a spoon or spatula until you have a soft, slightly sticky dough. Don’t overmix—just combine until everything comes together.
  4. Transfer the dough into the prepared loaf pan. Use the back of a spoon to gently spread it evenly.
  5. Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 35 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

You can add up to 60g (½ cup) of grated cheese, herbs, or chopped olives for extra flavor.
This bread is best eaten fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
