Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks

Ingredients
  

  • 200 g all-purpose flour
  • 120 ml warm water
  • 6 g active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil Plus extra for greasing.
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter Melted.
  • 3 cloves garlic Finely minced.
  • 120 g shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 25 g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried Italian herbs Or oregano.
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley Finely chopped, optional for garnish.

Equipment

  • 1 medium mixing bowl
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 rolling pin
  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper (optional)
  • 1 pastry brush
  • 1 knife or pizza cutter

Method
 

  1. In a medium bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes, until frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 15 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease with olive oil.
  6. Roll the dough into a rectangle about 1 cm thick. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Combine melted butter and minced garlic, then brush over the dough surface.
  8. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the top. Add Italian herbs.
  9. Slice the dough into 8 strips with a knife or pizza cutter, but do not separate them.
  10. Bake for 15–18 minutes, until cheese is bubbling and breadsticks are golden.
  11. Remove from oven. Cut or pull apart the breadsticks. Garnish with parsley if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven for best texture.
Serve with marinara sauce or ranch dressing for dipping.
