Method
- In a medium bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes, until frothy.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 15 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease with olive oil.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle about 1 cm thick. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
- Combine melted butter and minced garlic, then brush over the dough surface.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the top. Add Italian herbs.
- Slice the dough into 8 strips with a knife or pizza cutter, but do not separate them.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, until cheese is bubbling and breadsticks are golden.
- Remove from oven. Cut or pull apart the breadsticks. Garnish with parsley if desired. Serve warm.
