Ingredients

  • 120 grams unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 medium fresh garlic cloves For a stronger flavor, use a garlic press.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice Optional.

Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 fork or whisk
  • 1 small saucepan optional, for melting
  • 1 garlic press or knife

Method

  1. Let the butter sit at room temperature until soft for easy mixing.
  2. Peel and finely mince the garlic. For a stronger flavor, use a garlic press.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice (if using).
  4. Mash and mix everything together using a fork or whisk until thoroughly combined and smooth.
  5. Taste and adjust salt or garlic as preferred.
  6. For a completely smooth and melted garlic butter, transfer mixture to a small saucepan and heat gently for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  7. Serve immediately as a spread, or transfer to a dish, cover, and refrigerate for later use.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of chili flakes or grated parmesan.
This garlic butter will keep in the fridge, covered, for up to 1 week.
Let rest at room temperature for a few minutes before serving to make it spreadable.
Great for slathering on bread and broiling for instant garlic bread.
