Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk 14 oz / 395 g
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt 1.5 g

Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 hand mixer or stand mixer
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 freezer-safe container with lid
  • 1 rubber spatula

Method

  1. Chill the mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Pour heavy cream into the chilled bowl. Using a hand mixer, whip cream on high speed until stiff peaks form, about 3–4 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and salt until combined.
  4. Fold the whipped cream gently into the condensed milk mixture using a rubber spatula, taking care not to deflate the whipped cream. Mix until no streaks remain.
  5. Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container. Smooth the top, press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface, and cover with a lid.
  6. Freeze for at least 4 hours, or until solid.
  7. Scoop and serve!

Notes

For a richer flavor, infuse the cream with a split vanilla bean before whipping and let cool completely.
You can add chocolate chips, berries, or nuts before freezing for variations.
Let the ice cream sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before scooping for easier serving.
