Method
- Chill the mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for at least 10 minutes.
- Pour heavy cream into the chilled bowl. Using a hand mixer, whip cream on high speed until stiff peaks form, about 3–4 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and salt until combined.
- Fold the whipped cream gently into the condensed milk mixture using a rubber spatula, taking care not to deflate the whipped cream. Mix until no streaks remain.
- Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container. Smooth the top, press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface, and cover with a lid.
- Freeze for at least 4 hours, or until solid.
- Scoop and serve!
Notes
For a richer flavor, infuse the cream with a split vanilla bean before whipping and let cool completely.
You can add chocolate chips, berries, or nuts before freezing for variations.
Let the ice cream sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before scooping for easier serving.
