Ingredients

  • 800 g frozen French fries
  • 200 g cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 120 g bacon about 4 slices
  • 120 g sour cream 1/2 cup
  • 2 stalks green onions
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for drizzling frozen fries, optional

Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet or air fryer basket
  • 1 mixing bowls
  • 1 chef's knife
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 cheese grater if needed
  • 1 frying pan for bacon
  • 1 spoon or spatula

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F), or preheat your air fryer according to its instructions.
  2. Evenly spread the frozen fries on a baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil if desired, and toss to coat. Bake or air fry for 20-25 minutes, turning halfway, until golden and crispy.
  3. While fries are cooking, finely chop the green onions and set aside.
  4. Cook the bacon in a frying pan over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels, then chop into bite-sized pieces.
  5. Once fries are golden, take them out of the oven and transfer to a heatproof serving dish. Sprinkle evenly with shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Return fries with cheese to the oven or air fryer for an additional 2-3 minutes, just until cheese melts.
  7. Remove from oven, top immediately with bacon pieces and green onions.
  8. Dollop sour cream on top (or serve it on the side).
  9. Finish with a pinch of salt and black pepper, then serve hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding sliced jalapeños, diced tomatoes, or a drizzle of hot sauce.
Swap cheddar for mozzarella or pepper jack for a different cheesy kick.
Make it vegetarian by omitting the bacon and adding black beans or sautéed mushrooms.
These loaded fries are best enjoyed fresh and crispy; they may lose their crunch if reheated.
