Method
- Measure out the Chex cereal into a large mixing bowl and set aside.
- In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir, then microwave for an additional 30 seconds if needed, until melted and smooth.
- Stir in the vanilla extract to the melted chocolate mixture.
- Pour the chocolate mixture over the Chex cereal. Gently stir with a spatula until all cereal pieces are evenly coated.
- Pour the coated cereal into a large zip-top bag or container. Add the powdered sugar. Seal the bag and shake vigorously until all pieces are well coated with the sugar.
- Spread the coated cereal out on a baking sheet or parchment paper to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
- Store leftover Puppy Chow in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
Notes
You can swap rice Chex for corn Chex or mix both.
Add-ins like mini pretzels or M&Ms work well for extra texture.
Make sure the mixture is cool before bagging to prevent clumping.
