- Prepare your baking pan by lining it with parchment paper or spraying it with non-stick spray.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
- Add the marshmallows to the melted butter, stirring constantly until they are completely melted and mixed with the butter. Remove from heat.
- Stir in salt and vanilla extract if using.
- Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the saucepan. Quickly and gently stir until all the cereal is evenly coated with the melted marshmallow mixture.
- Transfer the mixture into the prepared pan. Use a spatula or wax paper to gently press the mixture evenly into the pan.
- Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before cutting into 12 bars.
- For extra flavor, consider adding chocolate chips or rainbow sprinkles while mixing in the cereal.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days for best freshness.
