Ingredients

  • 1 medium baguette About 250 g
  • 80 g unsalted butter Softened
  • 4 cloves garlic Finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley Finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese Optional

Equipment

  • 1 oven
  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 small mixing bowl
  • 1 pastry brush
  • 1 sharp bread knife
  • 1 measuring spoons

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Slice the baguette in half lengthwise, then cut into 4 pieces to make 8 pieces total. Arrange the pieces, cut side up, on a baking sheet.
  3. In a small mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well blended.
  4. Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bread. Use a pastry brush or the back of a spoon to cover all surfaces.
  5. If using, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the buttered bread.
  6. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the butter is bubbly.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool for 2–3 minutes. Slice if needed, then serve warm.
  8. For extra crispy bread, broil for an additional 1–2 minutes—but watch carefully to avoid burning.
